The guide uses the Odin flashing tool and Chainfire’s CF-Auto-Root tool.

REQUIREMENTS
You must have a computer that is running Windows operating systems to use this guide or else the flash tool will not run.
You need the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 that has the GT-P5200 model number only; check yours by tapping the Menu > Settings > About Device > Model Number.
The rooting package you will find in this guide — Chainfire’s CF-Auto- Root — is based on the Android 4.4.2 KitKat software update and the KOT49H.P5200XXUBNH2 firmware.

BEFORE WE BEGIN
Download the Samsung USB Drivers for the Tab 3 device directly on the computer before you start the guide.

HOW TO ROOT SAMSUNG GALAXY TAB 3 GT-P5200 RUNNING ANDROID 4.4.2 KITKAT
Download the updated CF-Auto-Root package for the P5200 device from this link.
Download the Odin flash tool to flash files on the Tab 3 from this link.
Extract both the files to the desktop of your computer by shifting them to the desktop from the default download location and then right-clicking on the file> extract there.
Double-click the Odin executable file that is on the desktop and let it run on the computer.
Press the Power button and choose to Power off the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 from the Device Options menu.
Reboot the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 device in download mode and then connect it to the computer with the USB cable.
Click the PDA/AP button you can see from the Odin user-interface on the computer and upload your CF-Auto-Root-santos103g-santos103gxx-gtp5200.tar.md5 file.
Do not make any changes from the user-interface of the Odin flashing tool.
Click the Start button and Odin will now flash SuperSU on your device thanks to the updated CF-Auto-Root tool.
Wait until the display of the Galaxy Tab 3 says it is about to reboot and then watch it reboot in recovery mode — this should happen automatically for you.
Any Galaxy Tab 3 that does not boot in recovery mode must be manually put in recovery mode by turning it off and then booting by holding the Volume Up + Home + Power buttons together.
