1) Before getting started with a rooting procedure, it is important to take backup of personal data in your smartphone. So, take a complete backup before following the procedure given below.

2) Next, download Google Nexus 4 USB drivers and install it in your computer so that you can connect your smartphone with it successfully.

3) Now, you will need to enable USB debugging mode in your smartphone by following the path: Settings -> Developer Options -> USB Debugging. If you can’t see Developer Options in your device, enable it by following this path: Settings -> About Phone -> Build Number (tap on it for 5-7 times to enable Developer Options).

4) Next, enable “Unknown Sources” in your smartphone by following this path: Settings -> Security -> Device Administration -> Unknown Sources (tap on it to allow installation of apps from Unknown sources). [This step is necessary only if you are using Android 4.4.4 Kitkat operating system]

5) Ensure that your device has at least 50-70% battery backup in it before getting started with the rooting procedure. Also, ensure that you have deactivated or uninstalled antivirus programs in your computer as they might cause trouble while using the rooting tool.

How to Root Nexus 4 Running On Android 5.0 Lollipop
1) To get started, download CF Auto Root For Nexus 4 zip package (CF-Auto-Root-mako-occam-nexus4.zip) and extract it’s content in a folder in your computer.

2) Next, switch off your Nexus 4 smartphone and boot it into the bootloader mode by pressing the Volume Up, Volume Down and Power buttons simultaneously. Once your device boots into the Fastboot/Bootloader mode, connect it with the computer using the original USB data cable.

3) Now, click on root-windows.bat file in the folder where you have extracted the CF Auto root to begin the rooting process. Once it is finished, you can reboot your device and your device will be rooted.

How to Root Nexus 4 Without Computer
1) To get started, download Framaroot apk file to your smartphone. Once done, click on the apk file and install it in your device. While doing so, you might get some warning messages. Just ignore them and install the app in your Nexus 4 smartphone.

2) Once installed, launch the application. Now, choose “Install SuperSU” as the action to execute after root and then click on “Aragorn” under the list of exploits to begin the rooting procedure.

3) Once the rooting procedure gets finished, you will get the following message: Success! Superuser and SU Binary successfully installed. You have to reboot your device.

4) Just reboot your device to finish the rooting procedure.
