Suppose if you want to root you device or want to install some custom ROMS like AOSP on Sony Xperia Z2 then first you have to unlock the bootloader. In this guide we show you the official way to done on Xperia Z2 android smartphones. All you have to download some files on your desktop and IMEI code of your device to get started. CHECK PHONE MODEL
This guide is only for the Sony Xperia Z2 android smartphone. Don’t try this method on any of other Android devices, It may hard brick your device. So, first confirm your phone model number in your android phone settings. To do this Go the Settings page of your device and check out the “About Device” option.
PRE-REQUISITES AND REQUIREMENTS
Before following the below Mention guide, It’s always recommended to follow our pre-requisites and requirement to stay safe.
1. BACKUP YOUR ANDROID DATA

2. INSTALL SONY XPERIA DRIVERS
You need these drivers to connect your device with the computer to follow this guide. Without these USB drivers you can’t connect your device to the PC, first download and install these drivers on your system.
DOWNLOAD ANDROID USB DRIVERS
3. ENABLE USB DEBUGGING MODE
Now you need to enable USB debugging mode. Without enabling USB debugging mode on your device you can’t start the root, Custom ROM or Unlock process.
4. CHARGE YOU ANDROID
If your device switched off during this process, it could damage or brick the device. Make sure that your Android battery is full charge or near about 50-70% battery level.

HOW TO UNLOCK BOOTLOADER OF XPERIA Z2
Step 1. Download the Fastboot files and drivers for the Z2 here and extract the folder on your desktop.
Step 2. Get the IMEI code for your device: type *#06# in phone dialer to find it out, note only the digits.
Step 3. Visit the http://unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com/unlock/step1 and read everything! Now Click on “Yes, I’m sure”button.
Step 4. Now form the next page clock on the “I accept” button to confirm that you accept the legal terms mentioned on the page.
Step 5. On the next page you will see a form in which you have to mention the details like Your Name, Your device IMEI code and the email address. Fill the form as described in the image below.
Step 6. You should now receive your unique unlock key via Email. Save this key safely, you need this file in next steps.
Step 7. Now go on your windows desktop and open the Fastboot folder that you downloaded on the step 1.
Step 8. Hold SHIFT and right click on the background of the folder. Select ‘Open command window here’.
Step 9. Connect your phone in Fastboot mode (turn phone off, hold Volume UP button and plug in USB Cable).
Step 10. In the Command Prompt window type in fastboot.exe -i 0x0fce getvar version
Step 11. If a value is returned (it will return 0.5), it means the phone is correctly connected.
Step 12. Now type in fastboot.exe -i 0x0fce oem unlock 0xKEY and replace KEY with the key which you received earlier on your email box on Step 6.
Step 13. Hit enter once you’ve put your unique bootloader unlock key in place.
You’re device should now be bootloader unlocked.
