REQUIREMENTS
The following guide is made to install the custom recovery image on the Samsung Galaxy J2. These custom recovery images are usually device-specific and cannot be fleshed on other devices unless otherwise instructed as being safe.

BEFORE WE BEGIN
Download the Samsung USB Drivers for mobile phones from our USB Driver page — scroll down the list until you see the Samsung brand.
Check that your device has the USB Debugging Mode enabled by navigating to the Menu > Settings > Developer Options > USB Debugging Mode.

HOW TO Install TWRP RECOVERY ON SAMSUNG GALAXY J2
Download the TWRP recovery file from this link.
Download the latest Odin flashing tool version from this page.
Extract the two files on the desktop by right-clicking and selecting ‘extract here’ from the menu.
Double-click the Odin executable file and wait for the Odin user-interface to open on your desktop.
Turn off the Samsung Galaxy J2 and reboot it in the download mode so you can flash files.
To get in the download mode, reboot by holding the Home + Power + Volume Down buttons.
Wait until the text on the smartphone display tells you to press the Volume Up button and do that action.
Connect the Samsung Galaxy J2 smartphone to the computer once you know it is in the download mode.
Wait for the ID: COM port to change color, signifying that your Samsung USB Drivers are working. If you cannot get the Samsung Drivers working, try using the universal ADB Driver also found on the same page.
Click the AP or the PDA button found on your Odin user-interface and browse the desktop for the extracted TWRP recovery file.
Once loaded, check that the re-partition box is empty, Auto Reboot is on and F Reset Time is working.
Click the Start button and Odin will flash the TWRP recovery image on your Samsung Galaxy J2 smartphone.
Wait until you see the pass message from the Odin user-interface.
Now the Galaxy J2 smartphone should reboot automatically since you had the Auto Reboot box checked — if it doesn’t reboot automatically, you need to reboot it manually yourself.
Now you are ready to start booting your device into that custom recovery anytime you want to use it. You can do that by pressing the Volume Up + Home + Power buttons at the same time after a reboot.
