Before consumers can even get their hands on the freshly launched Samsung galaxy Note 7, the company has released the first firmware update for the device. At the moment, the update is only rolling out to unlocked models which means carrier models like those in the US are less likely to receive the update right now.
The upgrade which was first spotted in Canada weighs 96MB and brings along essential bug fixes, stability improvements and software enhancements. The latest update by Samsung is an effort by the company to leave no place for error as it wants consumers to have a smooth run with the Note 7 the moment they receive their devices.

Lucky pre-order consumers who may already have the device in their possession should be able to install the over-the-air (OTA) update through an alert notification. Else you can head over to Settings> About Device>Download Updates to check for the update. In case you cannot find the update, you can also get the software package from a firmware database and manually flash it onto your device.

The Galaxy Note 7 has been one of the most awaited flagship phones of the year with Samsung recently declaring that demand for the device may be so high that they might be short-stocked. The company's China subsidiary, in addition, has announced a special model only for the competitive Chinese market with a mammoth 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage to take on flagships from homegrown brands like Huawei, Xiaomi and OnePlus.

Download the firmware according to your region and variant. Flashing the wrong firmware might brick your device.

How to Install N930FXXU1BPH6 Firmware on Galaxy Note 7
Download the firmware that is compatible with your Galaxy Note 7. The firmware file should be either with .tar or .tar.md5 extension.

Download the latest Odin zip file and extract the file on your PC. You will get the following files in the folder:

Odin3 vx.xx.exe

Double-click the Odin3 vx.xx.exe file. This will open an Odin window.

Now turn off your phone or tablet, and boot it into the Download Mode. To do this:

Power off your device and wait for 5-10 seconds until the device is fully switched off.

Press and hold  Volume Down + Home + Power buttons together and release them once you see the Warning screen on your device.

Press Volume Up to accept the warning and boot into download mode.

Now connect your device to the computer using a USB cable and make sure it’s detected.

As soon as you connect the device the ID:COM port on Odin will turn Blue orYellow depending on the Odin version. You’ll also see “Added!!” message to indicate successful connection.

Now click the AP button (Odin3 v3.09 or 3.10) or the PDA button (older versions) on Odin.
Navigate to the firmware file and select it.

In case you got a multi-file firmware with AP, BL, CP, CSC, and .PIT files, you must add the firmware components to corresponding slots in Odin like shown below.

In the Options section, make sure that only the Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time boxes are checked and everything else is unchecked. Don’t use the PIT file unless you know what you’re doing as it will re-partition your device which may cause serious problems if something goes wrong.

Click the Start button on Odin to start the installation. It might take some time depending on the firmware size.

A successful Odin flash is indicated by PASS! or RESET! message on Odin and then your device will restart immediately after the process is completed.
